Revolution SS Mast Angle Pin Settings: Getting Plumb on a Steep Sidling

If you're on a sidling too steep to get the post square, you move one pin — you don't move the tractor.

There's a row of holes in the base of the Revolution Telescopic SS, and where you put the pin decides how the mast's available angle is divided between inboard and outboard. The No. 3 hole is the balanced setting: an even split, so the lean you have on the inboard side matches what you can produce outboard. Move the pin across one hole and the balance shifts — a lot more inboard, slightly less outboard. Keep going and you keep biasing the range that way.

That's the point of having a row of holes rather than a fixed mount. On a side-mount machine, a steep cross-slope tips the mast off plumb before you've even started. Rather than hunting for flatter ground, you set the pin to suit the country you're working and you get back to plumb with the machine still sitting on the angle.

This is a setup decision, made once before you start on a face. The fine adjustment you make while you're working is handled hydraulically at the top link — that's a separate video.
